Jimmy L. Foster Sr.

“Jimbo”

“Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries, it can’t separate people from love . . .” Unknown Author

Devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, family member, citizen, and friend, Jimmy “Jimbo” Lee Foster has left an indelible and palpable impact on all who were blessed to have known him and touched by his remarkable life. A notable trademark of Jimmy’s character is that he exhibited extraordinary kindness, caring, and compassion for his fellowman. Some maintain, “Jimmy would give the shirt off his back or his last penny,” if he felt that one’s plight warranted his assistance. From childhood to adulthood, he exercised a strong work ethic and moral compass that reflected his innate sense of personal responsibility and accountability. A Tulsa, Oklahoma native, Jimmy was born on October 7, 1970 to the late Bobby Joe, Sr. and Rosa Lee Vaughn-Foster. He was the second of three children of their union.

Jimmy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. LeRoy K. Jordan at First Baptist Church in North Tulsa. He later joined Calvary Baptist Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma under the pastorate of Rev. Scott Gordon, Senior Pastor. He was also a frequent visitor at Antioch Baptist Church in Tulsa where Rev. Marla Mayberry is Senior Pastor and Rev. M.C. Potter is Pastor Emeritus.

He received his elementary and secondary education in Tulsa Public School System: Frost Elementary, Madison Middle School, and Central High School. A proud Central Braves football player, “Jimbo” was an outstanding linebacker and defensive end. His exceptional athletic prowess earned him special recognition in 1987 as State Runner-up in football. After graduating from high school, Jimmy relocated to California and attended Bakersfield College. Upon returning home, he entered Tulsa Community College to study Business Administration.

Jimmy worked for FMS, Inc. for approximately fifteen years as a Credit Collections Specialist. At the time of his demise, he was employed at American Airlines, the world’s largest airlines, as an Overhaul Service Mechanic (OSM). This November 2022 would have been his fifth anniversary at American Airlines.

In addition to his regular employment, Jimmy established his own business, “Jimbo’s Lawn Care.” On most evenings and weekends, he could be found mowing lawns. His favorite pastimes included grilling, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Jimmy met the love of his life, Ceatta Draper in 2010, and the two entered into Holy Matrimony on May 16, 2015. The couple lived happily until Jimmy’s transition to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Jimmy leaves the following loved-ones to celebrate his life: a loving wife, Ceatta Draper-Foster; one daughter, Miesha Reynolds; three sons (two of which are twins) – Jimmy L. Foster, Jr. and Jeremy L. Foster – and DeVaunte’ Benjamin; one brother, Bobby “Bobbo” (Trina) Foster, Jr.; one sister, Joanne Rhine; five granddaughters, RyeLeigh Foster, Hayzin Foster, Khloe Benjamin, Ja’Myrah Jackson, and Ja’Hiry Foster; four grandsons, Jermoni Foster, Jeremy Foster, Jr., Jeremy Jackson, Jr., and Londonn Benjamin; his bonus children, Donnisha (David) McKinzie, Alton (Monica) Nelson, and Lovli (Roy) Bell-Brown; three aunts, Saundra Foster, Patricia “Pat” Brown, and Frances Brown; two uncles, Herbie Rhine and Larry Brown (all of the above are from the Tulsa, OK. area). He also leaves three great aunts, Clarice Sanders, Brenda Matthews, and Maxine Jamison of Kansas City, KS. Additional survivors include his mother-in-law, Donetta F. Starks, and sister-in-law, Leametria Starks, of Midwest City, OK; brother-in-law, Cleophas (Shekinah) Draper of Glenn Heights, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jimmy’s earthly departure has left an inexpressible void in the lives of those who love him.

However, his profound legacy of love, warmth, and generosity is permanently etched in the hearts and spirit of family members and friends.
