Pizza Pasta Casserole Ingredients
ITALIAN SAUSAGE – Remove the casings. You can use any variety of Italian sausage you like.
ONION – Chop up a small white or yellow onion for a touch of sweetness. You can also use a red onion for a deeper flavor.
GARLIC – We found the perfect garlic flavor to be about 2 cloves, but you can add more if desired.
SPAGHETTI SAUCE – Use your favorite jarred or homemade spaghetti sauce.
TOMATOES – Diced or petite diced tomatoes are fantastic and give the pasta pizza plenty of zesty flavors.
SEASONINGS – You’ll need some dried oregano and dried basil. You can use fresh too, but we tend always to have dried on hand.
PASTA – We prefer penne, but you can also use macaroni, rigatoni, or ziti instead.
PEPPERONI – Grab your favorite brand of pepperoni. It’s so good! And if you aren’t a fan of pepperoni, you can leave it out completely.
CHEESE – To get the perfect cheesy flavor, use a combination of mozzarella and parmesan.
How To Make Pasta Pizza

For sure! Pizza sauce is basically the same as marinara sauce, with tomatoes, herbs, garlic, and onions. They can be pretty interchangeable. If you like the taste of your pizza sauce, feel free to use it on pasta, sandwiches, or meatball subs and vice versa.
Margherita Pizza & Spaghetti Carbonara - The white pizza goes well with this pasta selection because of its perfect synthesis of Prosciutto, red onions, and creamy Romano sauce. ...
Doppio Pepperoni Pizza & Baked Ziti - This is a satiating and savory option for the hungriest meat lovers.
In it, regular all-purpose flour yields chewy, bouncy noodles every time. Eggs – The key ingredient for adding richness and moisture to the dough! Olive oil – Along with the eggs, a splash of olive oil moistens the dough and helps it come together.
Luckily, making pasta from scratch is both satisfying and simple. While Italians prefer to use tipo 00 flour when making the dough, any home cook can just as easily rustle up a fresh batch with the help of their pantry and a bit of plain white flour.
The undisputed king of meltiness for cheese toppings is mozzarella. Classic mozzarella has the ideal balance of moisture, elasticity, and fat content for meltability.
Creamy homemade alfredo sauce topped with chicken, mozzarella and parmesan cheese makes a perfect homemade Chicken Alfredo Pizza. This one is a MUST for pizza night! It's time for another amazing homemade pizza recipe! If you haven't made homemade pizza dough, you really should give it a try!
Pasta dough also needs some plasticity for it to be moulded into all of those wonderful shapes. All-purpose flour does what it says on the tin, so it's perfectly fine to use for making pasta. However, most pasta recipes will recommend either semola or “00” flour.
There are different types of 00 flour, depending on whether you want to use it for making pasta or pizza dough. The main difference between these flours is gluten content, as pasta-making requires a slightly lower gluten flour than pizza. They will usually be clearly labelled as '00 pasta flour' or '00 pizza flour'.
In Italy, flour is graded by a number system from tipo 2 (brown flour with bran removed) to '000' (superfine white flour the texture of cornflour). The popular '00' flour is roughly in the middle of these grades, and is typically used for pizza bases and homemade pastas.
Semola and semolina flour are mainly used for making pasta, couscous, and some rustic cakes. Semolina has a coarse texture similar to polenta, while semola is flour. You might use semolina to make a breakfast porridge or sweet pudding, or under your pizza dough to keep it from sticking.
Double zero flour, also known as doppio zero or 00 flour, is a finely ground Italian flour commonly used to make pasta and pizza dough. In Italy and other parts of Europe, grind sizes vary from double zero to two. Double zero is the finest grind, and two is the coarsest.
The semolina flour adds a bit more structure to the dough, which is helpful for shapes like garganelli or farfalle where you want the pasta to “stand up.” You could replace the semolina flour with equal parts 00 flour for a more tender and soft dough, which could be good for something like tagliatelle.
Tomato sauce is similar to pizza sauce, but they are not the same. The main difference between tomato sauce for pasta and pizza sauce is that pasta sauce is cooked in the preparation of the sauce and pizza sauce is an uncooked tomato sauce that cooks along with the pizza.
Quite simply, pizza sauce has a lot fresher, more raw taste than pasta sauce. This is because pizza sauce is barely cooked (sometimes not cooked at all), whereas pasta sauce is slow-simmered for hours to develop richness.
Fundamentally, pasta sauce uses cooked tomatoes while pizza sauce requires uncooked puréed tomatoes. Pasta sauce, which may be made using more herbs and ingredients, takes some time to simmer to enrich the flavor slowly.
